Variety reported today that Naomi Watts will play the staring role in the remake of the classic Hitchcock film, Birds. Martin Campbell, recently known as the director of Casino Royale, is in negotiations to direct the movie, but is busy with current projects which may affect his availability.
I only hope the remake of this movie is much better than the remake of Psycho. Some movies you just can’t remake, partly because they are so classic, and partly because the newer version can never live up to the original, or be as good. Naomi Watts did do a great job of playing a classic period character in King Kong, so I think she is up to the challenge. Only time will tell how this movie turns out.

Jim says:
It’s difficult to capture the vision of the original writer, which is why so many remakes end up flopping so badly - they just aren’t the same movie.
