Variety reported that the writers for Superman Returns have decided not to come back and write for a sequel, even though they would continue to work with Brian Singer (with which they made Superman Returns and X-Men 2 with). Warner Bros still wants to make another ‘S’ movie, so they are looking for new scribes to write a script for the 6th Superman. Apparently the rumor is that they are also abandoning any sort of continuation from Superman Returns, and making another movie as if Returns never happened.
This seems to be a popular trend between the new Batman movies which have no affiliation to the previous ones, and the new version of the Hulk, which hopes to wow the audience so much that they forget the headache that is the 2003 version. If at first you don’t succeed, try, try, try again. Isn’t that right? It seems to be working out with all the flops so far. Burton did a great job with the first two Batmans, then the last two wen sharply downhill. All the sudden they get some good actors, a good director, and good script, and save the series with a new, darker (more Batman feel) look at the story. I have high hopes for the Hulk redo as well. Surely what can not be accomplished by Eric Bana can be done by Edward Norton, one of my favorite actors.
