Fool Me Once…

…shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Major Nelson put up a post today about the first batch of content coming out for Guitar Hero 3. They announced two song packs, each focusing on one band, as well as the damage they would do to your wallet.
… [waits in suspense] …
What is the price for Guitar Hero 3 song packs? The EXACT same as they were for Guitar Hero 2, 500 Microsoft points. There is something to be said for consistency, but in this case, I would only think that Activision would have heard just a whimper from all the screaming Guitar Hero fans that were up in arms about the ridiculous pricing of content for the second game. Learn from experience right? I guess when you create a product as addicting as Guitar Hero then you could care less about the people complaining since you can only assume they will buy it anyways.
If you take into account that 500 Microsoft points is $6.25 then that means you are paying about $2.08 per song. That is crazy when you could go buy a 20 track CD at the store for ten bucks. Let’s just say they won’t be fooling me the second time. Too bad the overpriced songs are by good bands. It makes it that much more tempting.
