While it looks like we’ll never see another Ghostbusters movie, the famed spook-fighters are returning to us with a virtual offering. The four Ghostbusters we knew and loved will return to voice their characters (Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, Harold Ramis). Aykroyd and Ramis are also penning the story for the game, as they wrote the screenplays for the movies as well.
The game will be set after the events of Ghostbusters II, in early 1990’s New York City. It has been confirmed that the game will include both multi-player and co-operative game modes which raises questions. Can you play as the ghosts? More importantly, can you play as the Stay Puft Marshmellow Man???
Developers Terminal Reality (Bloodrayne, Metal Slug Anthology) and Red Fly (Mushroom Men) are already hard at work, with Terminal Reality handling the 360, PS3 and PC versions while Red Fly takes care of Wii, DS and PS2. The title will be published by Sierra Entertainment (Half-Life, F.E.A.R.). Sony Pictures announced the project, and they will be looking to make an impact on the video game world with this release.
No doubt the developers and publishers hope to duplicate the success of Scarface, which made Vivendi a whole lot of money when it was published in video game form.
