Need For Speed Prostreet

Oh how the years have changed Need For Speed. Starting with the original police chasers to a more free roam Midnight Club style street racer to a competition based, more traditional racer. It really is interesting to see the various changed that have happened to NFS over the years. Prostreet is no different, really changing up the formula from the titles that it follows. See how it stacks up to the other NFS titles.

All the versions of Need For Speed each have their own changes and focuses. The last NFS titles, Underground and Underground 2, provided a more free roam feel to everything and tried to provide the gamer with a realistic version of street racing. It seems like Burnout Paradise is filling in with that appeal now. This newest title, Prostreet heads in a completely different direction. Think Project Gotham Racing with a more gritty feel and drag racing thrown in for good measure.

Although Need For Speed has changed directions, it has still maintained a good deal of quality. Prostreet has some excellent graphics, and if you are a arcade racing fan then it will definitely strike your fancy. There are plenty of races for you to show off yours skills, and some other events thrown in like Sector Shootout, Drag, Drift, and Wheelie competitions, among others.

If you are a fan of the Need For Speed franchise and fans of arcade racers then Prostreet may be just what the doctor ordered for you. There are two changes I would love to see in the next NFS: a less annoying announcer, and give me more cops! That was always the thrill with the classic NFSs, was outrunning the cops, dodging traffic, and still finding a way to finish the race in first.
Final Score
Gameplay: 6 out of 10
Graphics: 8 out of 10
