What could be better than a character-driven Western in which Christian Bale (Batman Begins) and Russell Crowe (Cinderella Man) spend more time matching wits and swapping philosophies than firing pistols or punching each other? This is precisely what this movie is all about, a remake of the 1957 classic based on a short story by Elmore Leonard.

Simpsons Game

thesimpsons

The Simpsons have seen their share of games in the past, some trying to capture the whole story, and others taking from a page of the Crazy Taxi handbook. Honestly, the most recent next-gen game is not at all like the rest. Sure it captures the city and the feel, but it does an amazing job of taking a look at videogames in general ala Simpsons parodies, while capturing the feel of the Simpsons world.

Rock Band Review

With the revolutionary idea of combining all the instruments and band members in a band and making them a part of a game, Harmonix hits the nail on the head with Rock Band. Playing Drums, Guitar, Bass and singing vocals with 3 other friends is as close as you can get to being in a real band aside from throwing a bunch of sweaty teens in front of you and crowd surfing.

Walk Hard

walkhard

Walk Hard comes out this week and looks to draw the usual comedy crowd. In addition, they are trying to get some baby-boomers interested to see it because of all their Jim Morrison parody posters, Johnny Cash similarities and a cameo from the Beatles in the movie. John C. Reilly does a great job with the singing and performing as Dewey Cox. The rest of the movie has some great parts, but plenty of scenes that fall short.

iamlegend

The trailer left this movie shrouded in mystery as to what is happening during the movie, and why is Will Smith’s character the “last man on earth?” The answers behind the questions are sure to send some chills down your spine. The plot is rather interesting, and Will Smith does an amazing job playing Robert Neville, a former scientist, and the sole survivor of a devastating virus created by man that initially kills 588 million people in 2009.

bioshock

From the first screenshots and videos, Bioshock built up a lot of hype and excitement. All with good reason though since many consider Bioshock the best game of the year. That is a mighty achievement when its competitors are Halo 3, Call of Duty 4, Mass Effect, Assassin’s Creed and Rock Band. Bioshock offers an extensive number of power-ups, abilities, and weapon variations which adds strategy and RPG elements to what would normally be a regular first person shooter.
